The US should be excluded from the title of this book, as Washington plays no larger a part in the fabric of this delicious story as, say, Paris or Cairo. The book focuses on Anglo-Israeli relations before and after the 1956 Suez War, a topic that is fascinating to me as a dual British-Israeli citizen, and particularly relevant now in 2003, as the historic parallels are obvious.

But what gives the book a more general interest, which it sadly won't get because of its academic title and manner of publishing, is its peppering with arch comments by British ambassadors in their dispatches home from Israel. Nobody does this like the English, and there is surely no more perfect topic than the Jews and their stubborn irritating little state. These dispatches provide insight into Israel, obviously, but so much more into the English themselves!

In summary, just as a solid and well-crafted documentary will entertain you much more than a junky whizz-bang movie, so this plainly-written treatise will quietly give you lasting pleasure and a much deeper slice of understanding of today's headlines.

I got this for uni as I had to direct an exerpt of a play. Cass Butcher Bunting is a very interesting and entertaining play commenting on the social aspects, including the relationships, of human beings. It is witty, emotional, and is poigant in the message it expresses to its readers.

There was not much to do with the painting of murals included in this book at all. The title is rather misleading. If, however, you are interested in beautiful illusions in sculpture and decorating, this would be the perfect place.

This book is a nice introduction to alternative 'disaster-surviving'. If you did not know that tea-tree oil, raw honey and quite a lot of other natural products can help you to survive any disaster, you should read the book. Most products can be found in health shops or on the internet. However, some products seem to be rare to find or can only be found in some specific shops/websites. And in times of disaster it's not sure you can order these hard to find (natural) products. I can't imagine that there are no other alternative to Liv-52, intestinalis, N-acetyl Cysteine etc... The author does not mention colloidal silver etc... which made me think this book is incomplete or just an introduction. Nevertheless the author has done a marvelous job in writing this most interesting booklet. I wish there were more of them !

Here's factual research on Nazi espionage against the Vatican, but little insight about true collaboration between Vatican officials, including Pope Pius XII, and Nazi secret police. Interesting insights into how Hitler's agents worked at cross purposes. They did break Vatican radio codes early in the war. Nothing here will directly implicate the Vatican's policies regarding ultimate sympathy with Nazism.

Cass R. Sandak tells young readers all about the National and Patriotic Holidays celebrated in the United States, beginning with the Fourth of July. Sandak talks in some detail about the Declaration of Independence as well as the ways in which the Glorious Fourth is celebrated. "Patriotic Holidays" then looks at the "newest" American holidays, Martin Luther King's Day and Presidents' Day, as well as Memorial Day, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veteran's Day. There is also a section that covers the lesser patriotic holidays from Arbor Day to United Nations Day. The book ends with a look at International Patriotic Holidays and a section on Holiday Trivia that tells about other things that have happened on July 4th. Sandak's little book provides a convenient source for basic information about all the holidays that teachers make a habit of pointing out to students, even when they are not real holidays where school gets closed and kids get to stay home. This book is illustrated with photographs and drawings.

An excellent work Peter Gill pulls few punches in his look at the role of MI5 the British Security Service.

An account that is never dull it brings together anecdotal and factual accounts of MI5 activity that breach the authors ideas of what a democratically accountable British Security Service should look and act like. Seeking to contrast the 1989 Security Service Act with its opposite Statutes in; Canada, Australia and the USA Mr Gill makes a powerful case for more openness in MI5 activity.

His delineation of the Gore-tex state (or should that be Gannex Peter)and subsequent recommendations make for a powerful argument. A recommended text for both undergraduate students and amateur buffs alike.

This book is an edited volume of some of the latest writings in Realist thought. Included in the introduction by Frankel is a quick review of Realist assumptions which many may find useful. The articles include Robert Gilpin's defense of the Realist paradigm, as well as Dale Copeland's Dynamic theory of state behavior. Also included are Randall Schweller's Neo-Classical Realism, Charles Glaser's defensive realism and Glenn Snyder's introduction of Process Variables. Joseph Grieco builds on his earlier work on Binding in explaining the EMU through a realist lens. A must for all political Realists as well as those seeking to critique the dominant paradigm of our time.

Phil did a great job researching material for this book. It's worth buying. Unfortunetly, Phil passed away in Hinton, WV early February 2003 while conducting reseach for his next book.
